Digitizing a Booking Process

Creating an efficient eCommerce platform.

A popular event destination managed their bookings through Microsoft excel. The aim was to digitize this process, increase conversions and reduce operational costs.

Leveraging the Sitecore blueprint approach, we were able to build a responsive platform in an agile manner. Integrating with a scheduling tool called Acuity, the e-commerce/CRM platform – VGS as well as Sitecore’s marketing automation features, we created a rich experience that allows users to view venue availability across 12+ venues, select hospitality packages, as well as pay in full or a deposit online to secure their booking.

The Results

The client required a solution that enabled the fastest route to market whilst still delivering the most optimal user experience. There was no time for user testing or extensive research, so we decided to take an expert led approach.

I conducted an expert audit of the existing site and its problem areas, created personas based off customer profiles, benchmarked leading eCommerce sites for features and functions inspiration and designed wireframes to meet user and business needs.

​

In less than 6 weeks we were able to build a scalable and reusable eCommerce platform that would facilitate ticketing and online sales, leveraging multiple venues with the ability to cross sell and upsell based on a user's preference.
